The Field Audit and Investigation Section of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department manages field audits and investigations with the aim of combating tax evasion and avoidance. There are three common types of on-site audits and investigations, including: Tax investigation, On-site Audits and Anti-Avoidance cases. If under-reporting of profits/revenues is found after audit or investigation, the Inland Revenue Department will levy additional taxes and fines on taxpayers.
